My brother and sister were there too . We all had a nice time . We had burgers on the barbeque . Talked about old times and had alot of laughs . Unforutnely I don't have a digital camera so I am not able to share any pictures with you . One thing I can tell you was that we had fun . Mama's little doggie is a little sick right now . They may have to cut their holiday short due to her being ill but mama won't know for a couple more days yet .
Well I just wanted you all to know I am back home now . I'm just going to chill tonight with hubby and tomorrow I will be back on your spaces to say hello.

The Wooden Bowl

Photobucket

The Wooden Bowl

I guarantee you will remember the tale of the  Wooden Bowl

tomorrow, a week from now, a month from now , a year from now.

******************************************
A frail old man went to live with his son, daughter-in-law, and four-year
 - old grandson.

The old man's hands trembled, his eyesight was blurred, and his step faltered.

The family ate together at the table. But the elderly grandfather's shaky hands and

failing sight made eating difficult. Peas rolled off his spoon onto the floor.

When he grasped the glass, milk spilled on the tablecloth.

The son and daughter-in-law became irritated with the mess.
'We must do something about father,' said the son.

'I've had enough of his spilled milk, noisy eating, and food on the floor.'

So the husband and wife set a small table in the corner.

There, Grandfather ate alone while the rest of the family enjoyed dinner.

Since Grandfather had broken a dish or two, his food was served in a wooden bowl.

When the family glanced in Grandfather's direction, sometimes he had a tear in his eye as he sat alone.

Still, the only words the couple had for him were sharp admonitions when he dropped  a fork or spilled food.

The four-year-old watched it all in silence.

One evening before supper, the father noticed his son playing with wood scraps on the floor.

He asked the child sweetly, 'What are you making?' Just as sweetly, the boy responded,

'Oh, I am making a little bowl for you and Mama to eat your food in when I grow up.
' The four-year-old smiled and  went back to work.

The words so struck the parents so that they were speechless.

Then tears started to stream down their cheeks.

Though no word was spoken, both knew what must be done.

That evening the husband took Grandfather's hand and  gently  led him back to the family table.

For the remainder of his days he ate every meal with the family. And for some reason,

neither husband nor wife seemed to care any longer when a fork was dropped, milk spilled, or the tablecloth soiled.

On a positive note, I've learned that, no matter what happens,

how bad it seems today, life does go on, and it will be better tomorrow.

I've learned that you can tell a lot about a person by the way he/she handles four things:

a rainy day, the elderly, lost luggage, and tangled Christmas tree lights.

I've learned that, regardless of your relationship with your parents,

you'll miss them when they're gone from your life.

I've learned that making a 'living' is not the same thing as making a 'life..'

I've learned that life sometimes gives you a second chance.

I've learned that you shouldn't go through life with a catcher's mitt on both hands.

You need to be able to throw something back

I've learned that if you pursue happiness, it will elude you

But,  if you focus on your family, your friends, the needs of others,

your work and doing the very best you can, happiness will find you

I've learned that whenever I decide  something with an open heart, I usually make the right decision.

I've learned that even when I have pains, I don't have to be one.

I've learned that every day, you should reach out and touch someone.

People love that human touch -- holding hands, a warm hug, or just a friendly pat on the back.

I've learned that I still have a lot to learn.

Two Horses In a Feild

A story about two horses ,thought I would share it .
                                      Two Horses In a Feild,

Photobucket

Just up the road from my home is a field,

 with two horses in it.

From a distance, each looks like every other horse.

But if you stop your car, or are walking by,

you will notice something quite amazing.

Looking into the eyes of one horse will

disclose that he is blind.

His owner has chosen not to have him put down,

but has made a good home for him.

This alone is amazing.

If nearby and listening,

you will hear the sound of a bell.

Looking around for the source of the sound,

you will see that it comes from the

smaller horse in the field.

Attached to her halter is a small bell.

It lets her blind friend know where she is,

so he can follow her.

As you stand and watch these two friends,

you'll see how she is always checking on him,

and that he will listen for her bell and then

slowly walk to where she is, trusting that she

will not lead him astray. When she returns to the

shelter of the barn each evening, she stops

occasionally and looks back, making sure her

friend isn't too far behind to hear the bell.

Like the owners of these two horses,

God does not throw us away just because

we are not perfect or because we have problems

or challenges. He watches over us and even brings

others into our lives to help us when we are in need.

Sometimes we are the blind horse being guided by

the little ringing bell of those who God places in our lives.

Other times we are the guide horse, helping others see.

Good friends are like this .

You don't always see them,

but you know they are always there.

Please listen for my bell and I'll listen for yours.

"Be kinder than necessary,

for everyone you meet is

fighting some kind of battle".

Daughter to father poems . A Little Girl Needs Daddy poem

A little girl needs Daddy
For many, many things:
Like holding her high off the ground
Where the sunlight sings!
Like being the deep music
That tells her all is right
When she awakens frantic with
The terrors of the night.

Like being the great mountain
That rises in her heart
And shows her how she might get home
When all else falls apart.

Like giving her the love
That is her sea and air,
So diving deep or soaring high
She'll always find him there.

Whether it be now or when I was a child

I guess a little girl holds her dad up high

Photobucket

Below is another poem ,he is not my real father but he holds the same place

in my heart .He is my step dad ,AKA Papabear or Pops

This poem is for him ;

What Makes a Dad

God took the strength of a mountain,
The majesty of a tree,
The warmth of a summer sun,
The calm of a quiet sea,
The generous soul of nature,
The comforting arm of night,
The wisdom of the ages,
The power of the eagle's flight,
The joy of a morning in spring,
The faith of a mustard seed,
The patience of eternity,
The depth of a family need,
Then God combined these qualities,
When there was nothing more to add,
He knew His masterpiece was complete,
And so,

He called it ... Dad

~~Author Unknown.~~

                         Photobucket

This is a picture of him with my Mom (Rusty). I couldn't

get the picture centered. But you can see he is a gem. And the poem says it all .

Well I must close this blog before I make a complete mess of it, haha.

Still a rookie at this stuff ya know.

May need to get Mama to fix it up for me.

Anyway to all you Dads out there.

Somthing for ya all to think about .Tootles Terry

How to handle
the dreaded barometric pressure headache!

Weather headache - is there a rainbow in the clouds?
If you've ever had a barometric pressure headache, you know it can be really difficult to deal with. Let's take a quick look at the research that's out there on barometric pressure headache and see if we can limit your pain!

It's been fairly obvious throughout history that weather, and particularly changes in the weather, have an effect on your body. In spite of this long line of weather-sensitive individuals, scientists are still unsure why changes in weather cause headaches and other migraines. There is a theory, however. Changes in pressure cause changes in oxygen levels.

It could be that blood vessels in your head expand or contract to compensate. Changes in the size of your blood vessels is part of the flow of changes that happen when you get a migraine headache. This is also why you may get a headache when flying, hiking, or even travelling to a new location.

A study was done by a group of researchers led by Dr. Galina Mindlin of Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia with migraineurs and "normal" individuals to compare their reactions to weather. The study found that migraines are indeed more likely when pressure rises, and somewhat more likely when the temperature rises. (Read more about the barometric pressure migraines study here)

Many researchers believe that it's not pressure alone, but a variety of weather factors together that trigger migraine. A study done in 1981 found that during phase 4 weather migraines increased – that's weather with low pressure, the passage of a warm front, high temperature and humidity, and often overcast skies. (Read this interesting article about health and weather) According to the American National Headache Foundation, weather changes may also cause chemical changes in the body, another factor that triggers migraine. Many believe that the electrical charge of the air may also have something to do with your headaches.

Weather.com now has an "aches and pains" forecast, basically based on dropping pressure, increased humidity and changes or extremes in temperature. Click here to see if a barometric pressure headache is on the way. Just enter your zip code or city.

What can I do about Barometric Pressure Headache?

Looking on the bright side, often barometric pressure headache sufferers at least have a little advance warning, especially if there is a predicted weather front moving in, or if you know you're about to go on a trip. Here are a few suggestions for dealing with the pain:

1.Keep track of the effects of weather on your headache

If you think pressure changes are a trigger for you, try keeping a diary of weather changes and headache pain. For this you'll want to get a decent barometer (preferably not the cheap ornamental one that you bought at the hardware store or department store). Ideally if you really want to investigate, consider investing in a digital barometer. These are not cheap, but they do tend to give you more accurate, exact readings.

2.Talk to your doctor about medications

Your doctor may suggest you take an anti-inflammatory drug such as ibuprofen before you travel or when a headache begins to come on. At least one doctor I know of recommended doubling your normal migraine medication dosages when taking a trip. Obviously you'll want to discuss these options with your doctor. Take along your diary from #1 so that you can show him how your body is reacting to pressure changes.

3.Try an ionizer or humidifier, or get some fresh air

This will not directly solve the pressure problem, but it may help with some weather related headache. Some people find that a walk by a waterfall or river will help. If you don't have easy access or need to lie down indoors (as many with barometric pressure headache or migraine do), try going to a room with a humidifier or ionizer. (Obviously if you're in a humid climate you'll want to avoid adding more moisture to the air!)

4. Check out some of the other medications and remedies on this website and learn something new!

Barometric pressure headache may respond particularly well to certain medications or home remedies.

Barometric pressure headache can be tough to handle. But don't give up! You are an individual, and you may have to keep trying until you find the treatment that helps you kill that barometric pressure headache...

My Cousin Stephanie lost her battle with Cancer

I'm not very good at expressing pain ,only by just crying .My young cousin Stephanie lost her battle with cancer .She was the strongest person I ever seen to go through this and always have a  smile .

Photobucket

She was a cutie as a little girl and always sucked her fingers .She is only a few years older then my own daughter so my heart breaks that this young life was taken in such a way .I know that God must of needed an angel for sure .

Photobucket

She was a beautiful young woman and only been married a little over a year or so .She could never have children due to her cancer .

I babysat her and her sister a few times when they were small .

Photobucket

Stephanie is on the left and her sissy Jennifer is beside her ,they were very close and remained very close .

Photobucket

Loosing loved ones is never easy .Stephanie fought for a long time .She was in remision twice before .But this last battle was a war and the cancer won .She is in heaven now .She will be missed by her family and friends greatly .

In Memory of Dee

So I light another candle for the loss of another sweet loved one .Keeping her memory alive .God Bless .

Screen Friends

by Miasartiff
My husband has finally gone to work
My children have finished their play
they've gone to bed their stories read
Now it's my time of day.

I've had one of those days
you know what I mean
so I sit back and relax
and turn on my screen.

I'll talk to all my friends
who know just what to say
to make my stresses go
and my troubles fade away.

My friends you're always there for me
whenever I feel blue
and though we've never met before
I know our friendships true.

And although we haven't been friends for long
in this short time it seems
we shared so many things already
our hopes, our fears, our dreams.

We come from different walks of life
but we share a common bond
and it's time to say that of all of you
I've grown so very fond.

So thank you friends for being there
whenever I've needed you
I know you're always there for me
and you know I'm there for you.

So there you have it folks . I hope ya all realize I did post this at 3 in the morning ,thats just how important you are to me .

Until We meet again .This Is Terry from her Pet Picnic Basket oxoxox

Poems For My Daughter

Photobucket

When I had my daughter , it was by far the most emotional time in my life .

I wrote 3 little poems for her .I would like to share them with you all .

"Life"

Life is having someone to hold ,

when you get scared or cold,

Life is having someone to love,

Like having a child you're so proud of.

Written by :Terry (me )

"Little Angels Love"

The world is full of fighting and war,

But with little angels around ,we forget all the more,

With little arms  to hold you tight ,

we never have a reason to fight.

Written by: Terry (me)

Photobucket

"Angels"

Angels are hard to come by ,

I hope forever she'll be by my side ,

She's beautiful as you can see,

I hope forever she will love me.

                                                          My beautiful baby girl
                                                                 playing outside on the lawn

without a care in the world...
but soon you will be gone.

When you were born I couldn't believe
how much you looked like me,

an image so clear none could deny
                                                                  and all could plainly see.

My little one won't stay at home
                                                                             forever in the yard,

a time will come when I'll let go
and I know it will be hard.

I'm sure the happiness I've known
will stay here in my heart

long after you are fully grown,
                                                                              and we are far apart.

But no matter where you go
in this wide and wondrous world,

I'll always treasure you, my dear,
                                                                            as my  beautiful baby girl.
